Hello, I'm Christopher.
I run Hello Street from Banbury, Oxfordshire. I take on website projects that need experienced development without requiring a full agency team.
Why Hello Street exists
Focused by design.
There is a lot of valuable website work between a quick patch and a major agency project: a form that no longer works, a feature that remains in the backlog or an integration that needs to be completed reliably.
Those are the projects I focus on. You describe the requirement, I review the current setup and we agree a sensible scope. I then carry out the work myself.
You know what I'm doing
Before I start, I document what is included, what is excluded and anything I need from you. If the requirements change, I explain the impact first.
I protect the live site
I check the code, access, backups and release route before making a change. If the current setup introduces risk, I explain it before proceeding.
You retain control of the work
I work in your repository and accounts wherever practical, provide useful technical notes and do not tie the work to a retainer.
Before Hello Street
I worked as a senior software engineer at the BBC and Jaguar Land Rover. They were employers, not Hello Street clients. The experience taught me a lot about reliable systems, careful releases and leaving code in a state the next developer can understand.
Have a website project in mind?
Tell me what needs to change.
Send me the current site and a short description of the required outcome. I'll reply within one working day with a practical next step.
